Since the lockdown has been on April 19 2021 it is high time and need of the hour that the government has to suspend the metro services.
The Delhi Metro will remain closed till 5 am on the 17th of May because of lockdown and uncontrollable surge in the Covid cases in Delhi, which has been further increased due to the risk of Covid 19. The announcement was made by Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal that the Metro train services will remain shut up to Monday 17 May, however, the previously lockdown in Delhi was for the weekend but now it is extended up to 17th of May.
Because of the ongoing worst condition of Covid and the upgrading cases, the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also said, “The government will get more stringent this time and it is one reason that the Delhi Metro will be closed from tomorrow because we must remember ‘Jaan Hai Toh, Jahan Hai’.”
Since the time Covid-19 started, this is the first time that lockdown is going on too long from 19 April to now that the government suspended Metro services.
DMRC said in a tweet, “The guidelines issued today by the government of NCT of Delhi in the expansion of curfew in Delhi for the prevention of Covid 19, the Delhi metro services on its entire path shall also remain shut for passenger/necessities services from 10 May till 5:00 AM of 17 May”.

In comparison to last year, metro services were suspended in March while the Centre announced a complete lockdown in the country to control the situation of Covid-19 cases. The services were continued from September 7 in a phased availability under the central government’s Unlock 4 guidelines.
According to the records on Sunday, Delhi reported 273 coronavirus deaths cases, the lowest as April 21, and 13,336 new infections. Well, the positivity rate survived at 21.67 percent, the lowest since April 16 when it was 19.7 percent, as per the health department.
