59-year-old Ranu Mondal had never thought that her divine voice will change her destiny one day. A lady who used to sing songs at the railway station of Ranaghat, West Bengal, India for her livelihood is now in Bollywood. One singing video has changed her life in one night and made her the internet sensation. Recently, she appeared as a guest on the television show Superstar Singer of Sony Entertainment where Himesh Reshammiya, Bollywood singer and actor offered her to sing a song for his upcoming film “Happy Hardy and Heer”.
Now her first Bollywood song “Teri Meri Kahani” has also already gone viral on the social media. There is also one man behind her success named Atindra Chakraborty who posted her singing video on social media. One day he saw Ranu chanting a song “Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai”, he made her video and posted it on Facebook. The video got viral overnight and gained appreciation from the common people to celebrities.
Know Ranu Mondal’s story
Ranu Mandal was born on 5th November 1960 in Ranaghat, West Bengal, India. She married to Late. Bablu Mondal and has one daughter named Sathi Roy. Earlier she lived in Mumbai with his husband but after his death, she came back to Ranaghat. Here, she started chanting songs of Lata Mangeshkar Songs on the railway stations to earn her livelihood. People sometimes used to give her money, biscuits etc. and it was enough for her to survive because she has no support. That railway station was both her place and workplace.
Well, at her 20s she used to sing songs for the clubs and in those days she was popular among all with a name Ranu Boby.
Ranu Mondal Met with her daughter after a decade
There was no link between Ranu and her daughter from almost 10 years. Ranu’s sudden popularity on the internet has given her daughter a way to meet her daughter. Sathi Roy (Ranu’s daughter) was searching for her mother for many years. She is a divorcee and lives with her son.
However, she is also not that much financially secure and runs a grocery store. There are lots of rumours running on the social media channels that sudden wealth and fame are the reason behind her reunion with mother but she has denied this in one of her posts.
Nobody knows the truth except their relation and it’s well-enough for both and their happiness. Ranu has given an interview to a TV show said that she was able to able to meet her daughter after almost a decade due to just a video being viral on internet.
Even Atindra wrote in Bengali about this reunion– “Today I am really very happy, only God knows why I am happy, money is not a big deal in life. Ranu got her daughter back today due to my video”. Well, he is a software engineer by profession and we must say that he has utilized his knowledge well to made Ranu, a celebrity. Well, Ranu’s neighbour Tapan Das also shared her singing video before Atindra but that time it was not noticed so much.

Ranu Mondal is getting many offers from many Production houses, Local clubs of Bengal etc. Currently, Himesh Reshammiya has just posted a short version of her first song “Teri Meri Kahani” and the full song will be released soon. According to the sources, the first salary given to Ranu is around 6-7 Lakhs which she denied to take because the amount is quite high for her. But Himesh somehow convinced her to accept the amount. She considers these opportunities her second life and she will make its best use.
