Punjab experiences night curfew due to surge in Covid cases

The Punjab government has imposed new restrictions in the state as new cases of Coronavirus are observed to be increasing. Under the guidelines, schools will remain closed till March 31, and a night curfew has been imposed in 11 districts.

As new cases of Covid grows, the Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh passes an order on Friday where massive state-wide restrictions will start from tomorrow. Whereas the shut down of educational institutions till March 31 beside medical and nursing colleges, and the restrictions in cinema/mall continue with the permission of 50 percent capacity in cinema halls; not more than 100 persons in a mall at any time. He also added only 10 visitors should be entertained in homes.

11 worst restrictions of districts

In 11 worst districts, the condition is worst, a complete ban has been imposed on all social gatherings and related functions, except funerals/cremations/ weddings, which will be permission able and only 20 persons will be allowed. however, this will start from Sunday, though these particular districts, will remain under night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am, as the Chief Minister has ordered the restaurants, cinemas, multiplexes, malls, etc remain closed from Sundays.  While home deliveries will be allowed but are subject to the night curfew.

the 11 affected districts of  Punjab are Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Mohali, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, SBS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar, and Moga, whereas the Chief Minister ordered restrictions on in-person public dealings in government offices. While citizens have to be encouraged to visit offices only for the important services. So, does the other district binding restrictions, for now, the Chief Minister ordered for reinforcement and strict monitoring of the strategy of micro-containment and containment zones. He made it clear that if required, strict barriers will also be imposed in other districts if the situation going worsens and Covid protocols and norms are not held to be by the people.

The situation will be inspected after two weeks, said by Chief Minister, conduct a meeting of the Covid Task Force along with top officials.

CM advises to ramp up testing

Handling health officials to do a check-up and advice for testing per day to 35,000, as the Chief Minister said, a special focus would be done by Government employees, super spreaders, and, teachers in educational institutions, etc. must be tested consistently. A Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) testing will be accelerating with RTPCR testing, he passes an order. While advising to determine and contact testing to be taken up to 30 per positive person. And the CPTOs have to be monitor personally he said.
