The result of Bihar election 2020 for the CM was declared yesterday and the BJP showed a winning performance winning 122 seats in the assembly polls. The Mahagathbandhan including parties Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties somehow managed to secure 110 seats in the state’s legislative assembly of total of 243 seats.
The BJP gathered 74 of Bihar’s 243 seats, leaving NDA’s tally past the majority mark, where Janata Dal United of Nitish Kumar ended up with only 43. What BJP said today is commendable, “There is no question of replacing Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister of Bihar”. Seems like Nitish Kumar is losing Big Brother status in his state and the BJP accumulating supremacy for the first time in Bihar where it never had a Chief Minister from the party, there have been several questions about the top job.
Sushil Kumar Modi from BJP and Deputy CM said, “Nitishji will be the Chief Minister as per our commitment. There is no confusion on this”. Sushil Modi added, “In an election, he added, “some win more and some win less. But we are equal partners”.
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) of Chirag Paswan eventually win just one seat but what matters is that it appeared, it eroded the votes of the JDU, leading it to drop from those of 2015. There has been surmised throughout this assembly election, that Chirag Paswan’s opposed Nitish Kumar had the BJP’s blessings. Many even find yesterday that son of Ram Vilas Paswan was a minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, and had come through for BJP and helped to dwindle Nitish Kumar’s status.
Sushil Modi accepted that the LJP impaired JDU candidates on more than 20 seats. But he also said: “Whether he will be in the NDA central leadership, we will have to take a final call, but he’s not a member of the NDA in Bihar.”
