Lockdown to be extended till May 3rd, an announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The number of Coronavirus has crossed the bar of 10,000 and has reported 339 deaths till yet. The Prime Minister as addressed the nation today, announced that lockdown will be extended up-to 3rd May as it’s very essential to control the spread of the virus in the country. He also thanked the people of the country to stand unanimously in these tough times to fight the battle against the pandemic.

PM Modi said, “After taking into account all the suggestions, we have decided to extend the period of lockdown till 3rd May. Till 20th April, each district and state will be scrutinized strictly to check whether the lockdown is being followed. Then only the relaxation on the restrictions can be considered.

Addingto this, he said the areas that are not the hotspots of virus will get some relief based on some conditions by April 20 and the situation can get more worse if the number of cases are not controlled.

The Centre might classify the country into three zones-red, green and orange, based upon the number of COVID-19 cases and can allow some of the services in the zones considered to be safe.

P.  Chidambaram, former Union Prime Minister, supporting the Prime Minister criticised the Centre for not taking proper care of the food and money supplies to those who are not even able to feed themselves.

Prime Minister also announced the relief in lockdown for the daily wage workers who have suffered a great crisis in their earnings. Rabi crop farmers will also get some relief from lockdown. Comprehensive guidelines will get issued by tomorrow keeping in mind of the poor class that has been adversely affected.

The number of the containment hotspots in Delhi has increased to 48 today’s Union Home Minister; Amit Shah assured the general public that we have enough stocks of essential items including food, groceries, medicines and other commodities.

The government of Punjab has launched a rapid testing facility today, from Jalandhar and Mohali with an aim to cover all the hotspots of the virus.

Following the norms of lockdown extension as announced by Honorable Prime Minister today, the Indian Railways have suspended the 76 trains considering it as a precaution. India to start pool testing of the virus where 5 samples can be tested at a time once approved by the ICMR.
