Delhi Metro resumes its services after a pause of 6 months

The yellow line of metro is the first line to be opened in Delhi from today connecting Samaypur Badli and Huda City Centre of Gurugram. Trains will start operating with strict measures and in two shifts, i.e. between 7 am – 11 am and 4 pm – 8 pm. Over the period of this week, the rest of the metro lines are also expected to be made functional by following all the safety measures. It is made mandatory to follow the measures to check the spread of Coronavirus, follow social distancing must-have face mask and hands sanitization is compulsory. The train over the Yellow line will cover only 37 stations throughout the 49 km.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that he is happy as Metro is starting from 7th September and “good arrangements” have been made from their side. He also mentioned, “ We all shouldn’t be negligent in taking all the required precautions”. Union Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri said, “ If we find lack of social distancing, crowding of trains then we will review the metro arrangement”. “I am quite confident that people will weigh their options and follow the guidelines in place. And if someone is noticed defying the guidelines to wear a mask or social distancing, the metro act will provide a punitive punishment”.
