Festival Dussehra draws its main origination from Ramayana. According to it, in Sat-yuga Lord Rama killed the ten-headed devil Ravana as he had abducted his wife Sita. The war fought between Lanka (Ravana’s Kingdom) and the vanara sena of Rama. As on one side, Ravana was with his full warriors and on another side, Lord Rama was accompanied by his brother Lakshmana, Hanuman and the vanara sena.

For commemorating the victory of Rama over Ravana, Dussehra also called Vijaydashmi is celebrated in India.

She had been given a superweapon by the supreme Gods to kill the devil. As promised, she killed the devil and the day is celebrated as Vijaydashmi.
