Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram is making the headlines since the last week. He was arrested on 21st August and today Supreme Court has dismissed his plea against Anticipatory Bill. However, it is extended until Tuesday. Currently, he is kept under the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). His corruption case is considered “infructuous” as he had already been arrested by SC.

- In Chidambaram’s anticipatory bail plea, Justice Bhanumati said that after the arrest, the application for anticipatory bail is nullified. Sibal said that there can still be a hearing. Right to life is important. On this, Justice Bhanumati said that we cannot convert anticipatory bail to regular bail, there is no application list against remand, we cannot ask for the listing.
