The foreign ministry of China announced permits against Nancy Pelosi, the US House Speaker on Friday after she visited Taiwan which induced fury of the military from Beijing. The foreign ministry said “Pelosi was extremely intervening in the internal affairs of China and seriously sabotaging China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity” by visiting, and Beijing would “introduce sanctions on Nancy Pelosi and immediate family members of hers”, without any further details. China has even announced similar sanctions on several US executives in recent years for going against its core interests and speaking about the human rights issues going on in Hong Kong and the north-western part of Xinjiang, often without explaining the retaliative measures.
Previously in March Beijing talked about imposing visa restrictions over a confidential list of officials belonging to the United States having allegedly “concocted lies on human rights issues involving China”. Former US secretary, Mike Pompeo, and trade adviser Peter Navarro to former president Donald Trump was among the list of those hit by earlier announced sanctions and are restricted from entering China or even doing business with any of the Chinese entities.
