WhatsApp, a mostly used messenger app is now testing a new feature with which you the user can report its contact on the app but the only condition is that to report, you have to submit recent chats as the proof. The feature is currently live on Android app version 2.20.206.3 and beta testers can see the feature live.
With this WhatsApp update, a user will now be able on both casual and business WhatsApp account to report any other person’s account they are being troubled, spammed, or harassed with on the app. The only difference from earlier is that now it will ask you to submit the proofs of the recent messages with the user that shows harassing action. So when you will choose to report an account, the app will show a pop up with a message saying, “Most recent messages from this user will be forwarded to WhatsApp.”
The company will take action against it only after properly checking the messages. The company will check first how many users have reported against that particular user, and if the WhatsApp community find multiple complaints against the number, it will be blacklisted.
Presently as we can see whenever a message is received from an unknown number, WhatsApp will show you options either to add the contact, repost, or block. But from this WhatsApp update, the app will now ask you to submit the recent messages to cross-check if the report is correct or not. This will help the company to analyze the situation before taking any action.
When you will share any chat, you will also see a message saying, “WhatsApp never receives your messages without your permissions. If you decide to report a contact, you agree to forward a copy to WhatsApp of the recent messages from that chat”.
