What is the difference between WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business?

In January 2018, Facebook has launched another instant messaging app for the business. By leveraging the advantage of a worldwide craze of WhatsApp, it has introduced the same instant messaging app for the business people and its name is WhatsApp Business. Both are only differed by the two words where one has a messenger and another one has a business.

However, it’s more than a year of its launch but there are still many people around us who don’t know the difference between these two apps.  That’s why we have especially mentioned those differentiated features of WhatsApp Business. With the below-mentioned points, you will be able to understand the difference between the two.

  • Different Logo- First understand the difference between in their logos. You should be able to identify them visually. In the business app, you will find the letter B in the logo, whereas in messenger app there is no letter in the logo.
  • Chats Identification- When you receive a message from a business account then you will be also given the notification.  The notification is shown just the text message on the chat. It is shown in the form of alert in which the text “This chat is with a business account. Tap for more info”.
  • Availability- Earlier it was only available for the android phones but now it’s also available in the iPhones. It can be downloaded easily from the Google Playstore and App Store both.
  • Business Description- You can create your business profile in the WhatsApp Business account. In the profile, you can add details like business address, description working hours, and location. Including this, you can also add contact details like multiple websites and email address. In this way, customers are able to get all the important details they are looking for about business.
  • Quick Replies- This instant business messaging app has a smart tool like ‘Quick Reply’. With its help, you can send the predefined replies to the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) of the customers. For doing this, you simply have to press the forward slash key (/). After clicking it, you will find all the quick replies which you have saved in your account. The benefit of using this tool is that you don’t have any need to type the same type of messages again and again. This feature is not available in the WhatsApp Messenger.
  • Greeting Message- Another amazing feature of the business app is Greeting Message through which a greeting message is automatically sent to the new customer. The greeting message also sent to the existing customers who are in no activity from 14 days. Such type of feature is not available in the WhatsApp Messenger. Including this, you can also select the recipients to whom you want to greet.
  • Away Message- In the WhatsApp Business account, you can also keep your customers informed when you are not available. This feature enables you to inform your customers that you are not available and they can get all their details from the website and even the FAQ section. The best part here is that you can customise your message by adding a schedule and even change the recipient of this message.
  • Label- For making your business operations smoother, Facebook has added a label feature in its new app. In the WhatsApp Business account, you can add a label to the chats and segregate them into different categories. For Instance, you have an IT company and you are using WhatsApp for taking a follow up with your clients. Here, you can add labels like a new client, new project, payment pending, paid, project delivered.
  • Search Filter- Another newly added feature of WhatsApp is search filters. With the help of this new feature, you can search your unread chats, groups, and broadcast lists. This functionality is not available in the standard WhatsApp. It also lists the labels you have created in your account.
  • Short Links- Generally, in the regular WhatsApp account, we have to save a number first to initiate a chat. Whereas in the WhatsApp Business account, users can chat simply by tapping on a unique link to begin a new conversation. This short link feature is the built-in-feature in the new business account. The link is also available in the standard but the difference here is that it’s created manually.
  •  Account With Landline Number- In the standard WhatsApp, you need a mobile number to create an account in it. Whereas in the WhatsApp Business you can also create an account with the mobile and landline number both.

Similarities between WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business

After learning the difference between both the apps, you might be thinking that it’s a completely new platform.  Wait….. They do contain the many similarities too.

Let’s also know the similarities between both the apps:

  • Web Access- Both these accounts can be easily accessed on the browser through WhatsApp Web. But only one account is accessible at one time in one browser unless you are using other browsers like Incognito Window, Mozilla etc.
  • User Interface- The user interface is the same in both the apps. You will find the same experience in both the apps.
  • Other- All other WhatsApp features are available in the business app as well like audio, video call, sticker and status.

Which one is best?

There is no comparison of the best between the WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business app. Both are significantly different and have different benefits. If you are a business person then shifting to the business app will be a great solution. In this way, you can easily manage your business and personal life as well. With the business app, you can grow your business best.

Similarly, if you are a non-business person then the standard WhatsApp is enough. So, choose accordingly and create your profile in any of these apps or in both as well.
