Renowned gangster from UP was shot dead on Friday morning when he was about to brought to Kanpur from Ujjain, MP. According to the UP STF (Special Task Force), while he was being transported to Kanpur one of the police jeeps accidentally overturned. Taking the situation’s advantage, Vikas attempted to snatch the police weapon and flee from the spot. Because of the situation, the police started open fire and shot him dead. Two policemen were also injured in the firing. The incident took place in the village BIkru of Kanpur. Medical report from police is still in waiting.
He was arrested on Thursday from Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple. Police informed that Dubey intentionally fired on the police team in order to kill them. Dubey was declared dead in hospital when he was brought to hospital on stretcher. Kanpur SSP Dinesh Kumar told, “Four policemen were also injured in the firing”.
To the incident, Samajwadi Party’s President Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “The car has not overturned but it was the government that has been saved from getting overturned because of the secrets”. Previously the police have shot five accomplices of Vikas Dubey after the incident of 2nd July night. One of those, Prabhat was shot when he was trying to get away from Police custody on the way from Haryana to UP under remand on Thursday. Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey, the other two suspects were shot dead by the police within few hours of the incident. Over 60 criminal cases have been filed in the name of Vikas Dubey and a reward of Rs. 5 lakhs was announced on his heads. Vikas’s wife, Richa Dubey who is also a member of Zila Panchayat was picked up in Lucknow by the Police and was taken back to Kanpur.
