Two men with choppers decapitated a tailor in Udaipur named Kanhaiya Lal on Tuesday. The ruthless murder of the man has rung up a sort of communal stress in the state where restrictive orders have been braced for almost a month to maintain peace. The two criminals are identified as Ghouse Mohammad and Mohammad Riaz were taking revenge for the insult to Islam after the victim had reportedly Kanhaiya Lal had shared social media post in support of Nupur Sharma, the spokesperson of the BJP party who was suspended for her remarks made on Prophet Muhammad.
Kanhaiya Lal filed a report to the Udaipur Police on 15 June about the threats he was receiving but police officials failed to understand the severity of the issue and rather negotiated an agreement among the two parties. DGP ML Lather said, “Police authorities have suspended the concerned assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and the station house officer (SHO) for failing to discover the seriousness in the situation.”
Investigators have to say that both the accused were arrested after posting incident videos online admitting the crime might have links with the Dawat-e-Islami, a religious association running movement in Pakistan. Dawat-e-Islami is a Sunni Muslim organization that claims to be a non-profit body procreating the message of Prophet Muhammad among all. The body offers online courses for Islamic studies and also runs its own television channel.
Dawat-e-Islami also serves training to offer Daawa, convert, and enroot people through online education. According to some sources, inspectors are questioning whether the two inculpated were persuaded by the organization into obstinate Islamism. Police sources say after the killing, both criminals were on their way to visit Ajmer Sharif. The SIT from Rajasthan Police and the NIA is trying to find if they are from any network of extremists.
