Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the British survivalist Bear Grylls in the popular TV show Man Vs Wild. Our Indian PM is the second leader in the world who has participated in the thrilling adventure in the rainforest. Earlier in 2015, Barrack Obama (Former President of USA) was seen in this show.
The episode was telecasted yesterday i.e. 12th August 2019 on Discovery Channel. It was shot in the Jim Corbett National Park of Uttrakhand. Our energetic Prime Minister and fearless adventurer walked through the forest where animals roam free. It’s one of the densest rainforests in India. Both had a great time together and discussed wildlife and natural conversation. In the one-hour episode of the show, Modi shared his life experiences and how his childhood spent in poverty.
Let’s have a look at the quotes of the episode again:
Modi’s childhood
When Bear asked Modi that “Are you a good student in your school days?” On it, Modi laughed slightly and even joked on the question of being a good student. “I didn’t have a sophisticated childhood. When I went to school I kept myself perfect, I didn’t have an iron at home so used keep burnt coal on cooper bowl to iron my shirt” he said.
Time when he was in the Himalayas
Modi shared about his initial days where he left his home at the age of 17.
He said “I wanted to make a decision about my life. But before that, I wanted to understand the world. I wanted to see the spiritual world. For that, I went to the Himalayas. I love nature. I met people in the Himalayas, stayed with them. It was a wonderful experience and I spent a long time there.”
Have no fear of nature
When Bear asked Modi that is he ready to travel in the dense rainforest of Northern Himalayas-Jim Corbett National Park where there is a danger on every next step. He replied on it and said “I don’t think we should consider this experience dangerous. If we live in harmony with nature, nothing can go wrong.”
First Vacation in the last 18 years
In the midst of the lush greens, Bear also asked whether he had a dream of becoming a prime minister in his life.
On it, Modi replied that his focus and motive is always been the development of the nation. “The focus has been always been on one thing and that is development. And I am satisfied with that job. Today, if I consider this time as a vacation, then I must say I am taking a vacation for the first time in 18 years,” Modi said.
His experience after becoming PM
Being a PM of India, Bear asked him whether he had pinched himself in his life. “It never occurs to me who I am. I am above all this. When I was a Chief Minister and even now as the Prime Minister, I only think of my work, my responsibilities. My position never goes to my head,” Modi said.
Answer on being nervous
Bear also asked a question that does he ever get nervous before any rally or anything important. On it, he said that it’s not a part of his temperament.
“My problem is that I have never experienced such fears. I am unable to explain it to people what nervousness is and how to deal with it because my in-built temperament is very positive. I see positivity in everything. And because of that reason, I am never disappointed.”
Message for youth
“If I have to tell anything to the young generation then I will say we should not think of our life in pieces. If we think of our life as a whole then there will be ups and downs. If you are going down don’t think about it because the way up starts from there,” Modi said.
Adopted Baby Crocodile
Bear also asked about his childhood incident where he brought crocodile home from the pond. On it, he said “my mother said to me this is wrong. You cannot do this. You should not do this, put it back. I went and put it back”.
Swach Bharat: Modi said, “The people of India can make India clean. Personal hygiene is in the culture of the Indian people. We need to develop the habit of social hygiene. Mahatma Gandhi has done a lot of work on it and recently we are getting good success in this. I believe India will succeed in this very soon.”
Experience on Man Vs Wild
“I really enjoyed today. All my memories from my time in the Himalayas came back to me. It reminded me of the days I spent on the banks of Narmada River. And, whether it is a river or pond or a waterfall, in my younger days, when I was learning to meditate, all these things held an important place. Today again I was reminded and felt that happiness, which I felt in the past. It was a heartwarming experience.”
Bear Grylls shared his excitement with PM Modi
It is such a privilege to be taking Prime Minister Modi on an adventure into the Indian wilderness and I feel truly honoured to get to spend time with this remarkable world leader.
