Removal of Article 35A
Modi government thinks that it’s a high time to take a strict stand on Section 35A due to the favourable circumstances. For this, petition on questioning the validity of this section will be heard in next week. The government may present its stand in Supreme Court, that they have no objection in removing this section from the constitution. It was not in the original concept of Section 370. It may be known that under Section 35A, citizens of any other part of the country cannot buy any property other than the natives of Jammu and Kashmir. They cannot even become a citizen of here. In 1954 this section was added under section 370.
Triple Talaq Bill bring momentum and confidence
The removal of Article 370 is the part of the political agenda of BJP. If the government takes a decisive decision on this, then it will also have to take approval from Parliament. After getting the approval of Rajya Sabha in the Triple Talaq Bill and RTI Act, BJP party feels that they can start a discussion on this topic. Including this, the political opposition on it will not be easy as it was earlier. However, BJP’s ally JDU and Akali Dal have been its opposition parties. Apart from this, the discussion about the Delimitation Commission is also hot, after which BJP desired to have the fresh assembly seats which will be decided according to the population there. This will increase the seats in Jammu and may pave the way for making Hindu CM there.
Discussion of assembly elections
The Modi government, currently dismissing the possibility of any major decision on Kashmir. They are linking the current events with the intelligence report received from there and preparing for elections. As per the schedule, assembly elections are to be held in the state before snowfall in October-November. A large number of security forces will be required for the elections. Due to security reasons, two phases of Lok Sabha elections were held there. The government wants to respond to the separatist forces by successfully winning elections from the people’s participation.
