Twitter has halted a new plan for deleting the inactive user accounts of its site in the coming months. Till then it’s just memorializing the accounts of the users who haven’t signed their account in the last six months. According to the update, if a user hasn’t signed the account by 11th December then the account will be deleted permanently. That’s the reason being Twitter has also started sending warning emails to the inactive users.
“This impacts accounts in the EU only, for now. We’ve always had an inactive account policy but we haven’t enforced it consistently. We’re starting with the EU in part due to local privacy regulations (eg, GDPR).” Twitter Tweeted.
The reason behind this inactive user account deletion plan is to provide users with better services so that users can get the engaging experience with more reliable and accurate information.
Few months for the whole process completion
However, the plan will come into effect after a few months but now Twitter has started sending warning emails to the inactive users. The company itself has stated that the whole process will be completed in several months.
Identification of multiple accounts
“We have begun proactive outreach to many accounts who have not logged into Twitter in over six months to inform them that their accounts may be permanently removed due to prolonged inactivity”, said Twitter.
Below we have also posted the Twitter’s Inactive Account Policy:

What is Twitter’s inactive account policy?
We encourage people to actively log in and use Twitter when they register an account. To keep your account active, be sure to log in and Tweet at least every 6 months. Accounts may be permanently removed due to prolonged inactivity.
How does Twitter determine inactivity?
Inactivity is based on logging in. Please note that you may not be able to tell whether an account is currently inactive, as not all signs of account activity are publicly visible.
