One of the Indian religious leaders asked a famous Brazilian fashion brand John Cotre to remove the image of Hindu deity “Lord Ganesha” from its new line of shorts for men and women. Hindu cleric Rajan Zed said, “Lord Ganesh is meant to be worshipped in temples or home chapel and not to embellish someone’s thighs, hips, groin, buttocks, genitals, and pelvis”.
Zed, who is a citizen-based in Nevada, demanded the clothing brand John Cotre manufacturer to make an apology for “deeply underestimating” one of the most esteemed Hindu gods. Hinduism is the world’s third-largest religion with more than 1.2 billion followers.
Zed said the improper use of Hindu divinities, an idol for business motive hurt the sentiments of devotees. He also added, “Clothing companies should not be in the commercialization of religious appropriation, blasphemy, and mocking whole communities”.
