9Unicorns, India’s first idea-phase accelerator VC fund has invested in one of the fastest growing online video sharing platforms, Mitron TV. Making this investment, 9Unicorns have underscored its statement of supporting homegrown start-ups with high potential with the PM’s call for Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Furthermore, other big investors in line are Next Venture Partners who provided the funding of USD 5 million in August and 3one4 Capital served with INR 2 crores in July.
The two young founders Shivank Agarwal, and Anish Khandelwal founded Mitron TV in April 2020 during the lockdown. Mitron is a social networking app developed to create and share videos with minute length, serving mainly the Indian market and has only focused to add value to every Indian user of the app. The objective to create such an app was to serve a platform to the local talents that which is engaging, and help them show their creativity, and provide the exposure that they aren’t able to get.

Just within the three months of the app launch, Mitron TV has shown a noticeable pull of audience with 10+ million downloads. For Android, on the Google Play store, it has acquired 39+ million downloads with mostly 11+ billion views every month. Co-Founder and CEO Shivank Agarwal said the app has recently made its debut on Apple App Store.
Recently on October 31st Mitron has launched a platform known as Atmanirbhar apps, which is built to explore the apps “Made in India”. Atmanirbhar has listed all the domestic apps developed in several categories including social media, lifestyle, utility, gaming, e-commerce, and government.
