Kamal Nath led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is all set to go ahead for the floor test after BJP’s plea for the same on a fresh deadline.
The former chief minister and Bhartiya Janta Party’s leader, Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited the state governor, Lalji Tandon and offered a list of nine legislative in the house. Also, he made assure that 106 legislators paraded in the house for showcasing the majority. According to Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Kamal Nath government is in minority and in that case they have the constitutional right to make their government in the state. Previously the BJP leader had found no strict actions in the lower house so he moved to the governor and Supreme Court and proposed for conducting a floor test or the confidence test in the house.
Tandon said that he will consider the Kamal Nath government in the minority in case he fails the floor test on Tuesday.
This latest deadline came hours later when the Speaker, NP Prajapati adjourned convene of the house for the next 10 days citing health concerns due to coronavirus threat worldwide including India. Prajapati asserted that the assembly would restart its proceedings from the 26th of March and then the lawmakers will have to vote for the Rajya Sabha elections.

What is a trust vote or floor test?
A trust vote is a constitutional mechanism to know if the ruling government has the trust of the majority of legislators in the house or not. The floor test is sought by the government in power on the floor of the House. It needs to be moved by an MLA or MP to determine if the government has the confidence of the legislators.
What does it mean for the Kamal Nath government?
The floor test is something which is one of the most indispensable phases for the Kamal Nath government as there are chances of losing the right to govern the state if it fails to win. If the Congress leader, Kamal Nath wins this floor test, he will continue to be the chief minister of the state and there would be no more trust votes for at least six months ahead. On the other hand, if he loses the same, the governor, Lalji Tandon might offer a chance to BJP to come in power or else he can bring about the President’s rule in Madhya Pradesh.
In the meanwhile, it will be interesting to note what latest updates are yet to come from Madhya Pradesh, till then stay updated.
